Square Enix launched the first Kingdom Hearts game for the PlayStation 2 back on March 28, 2002. 19 years later, we’re finally getting the option to play not one, but 11 Kingdom Hearts “experiences” on PC.
Square Enix announced that a huge selection of Kingdom Hearts games will be hitting the Epic Games Store exclusively on March 30. The 11 experiences the Japanese developer/publisher references are spread across the following series entries:
Square Enix describes Kingdom Hearts as follows:
“Imagine if you took some of the most popular Disney and Pixar characters of all time, and some of the most popular Final Fantasy characters of all time and smushed them together, like a kid playing with action figures. Then add in amazing original characters, a sprawling story and a generous sprinkle of Tetsuya Nomura magic, and what you get is an incredible action-RPG series that’s quite unlike any other series out there.”
The four entries being made available on PC are what’s known as “The Dark Seeker Saga.” If you intend to grab them all, start saving now as it’s certainly not a small investment. Epic and Square Enix have decided to charge $59.99 per entry for all but HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, which is $49.99, meaning a total spend of $229.96 is required. Surprisingly, there’s no discount being offered for purchasing all four at the same time, which I suspect will lead many gamers to wait for a sale.
The good news is, you won’t need a high-performance PC in order to enjoy any of these games. Even the recommended specs only suggest an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a GeForce 1070 8GB or Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB graphics card. Storage may be the biggest barrier, with all four entries requiring 175GB or more, but you don’t have to install them all at the same time.
