Last year, Sony reacted to the coronavirus pandemic by launching its Play At Home initiative. It was a way of encouraging us all to stay at home, but also entertain ourselves with access to free content. That included free downloadable copies of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey. Next month, Sony is repeating the offer.
This year, a different selection of entertainment will be offered. From March 1, the 2016 PS4 game Ratchet & Clank will be available to download and keep. Just be sure to grab it before March 31 when the offer ends. And instead of a second free game, Sony decided to offer extended free access to Funimation, which allows you to watch around 13,000 hours of anime.
The Funimation offer starts on March 25 and extends the usual 14-day free trial by 90 days, giving you a total of 104 days free access. Simply download the Funimation app if located in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand. If you’re elsewhere in Western or Northern Europe, then the same offer is available through the Wakanim app. Keep in mind that at the end of the extended free trial a paid subscription will begin automatically, which in the US costs $7.99 per month.
Sony also revealed today that it’s working on a new PlayStation VR headset and controller for the PS5. It won’t launch this year, but promises to “enhance everything” when it does eventually hit the market.
