The Indigenous Employment team is a dynamic team focused on creating sustainable employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia. It is responsible for providing Indigenous employment expertise to our operations through the delivery of the Indigenous Employment Plan. The IE Plan includes a number of programs and initiatives that are critical in creating a diverse and inclusion workplace where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees can thrive. The team will work with our Assets in the delivery of these programs and initiatives which include: work readiness programs in partnership with traditional owner groups; supporting talent reviews and delivering Indigenous leadership programs that support career progression; delivering programs that create a culturally respectful workplace and enhance the cultural competence of our leaders to better support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in the workplace.

The role of Indigenous Employment Specialist is to engage, coach and support our operations management to develop and execute quality Indigenous employment programs and initiatives set out in the Minerals Australia Indigenous Employment Plan. You will work with operations management and human resources teams across a number of sites to plan and deliver a range of endorsed programs. You will also be required to coach, influence and provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander technical expertise to improve leadership capability and foster a more inclusive workplace as well as improving organisational systems and processes.
There are four roles available across Western Australia, the locations are Port Hedland, Newman and FIFO to WAIO sites, BHP does offer flexible work options which can be discussed at interview.
